News!

9.23.09

We're headed to Greeley, CO for the 2009 ASCA Nationals tomorrow.

I'll try to post updates as I can.  So excited - can't wait!

9.13.09

Back to the show ring!  I took Kylie and Tripper to Saukville, WI for a great

weekend of outdoor shows hosted by Rock River Valley ASC.  Kylie took A-BOB

at the Saturday shows, Tripper took BOB at the Sunday show.

7.26.09

UMASC's annual Cattail Classic weekend - nice weather, great time.  Kylie took

A-BOB at all four shows, Tripper took BOS at one.  I won't be showing again for

 a while - I'm having surgery on July 29.

7.10.09

Quick one day trip to Rio, WI for a RRVASC show.  Kylie took A-BOB and A-BOS,

Tripper was shown by two very vice RRVASC club members Julie Williams and

Jennifer Stagg because I was having a really hard time with the heat.

7.8.09

Long weekend, but worth it!   I drove Kylie and Tripper to another ASC of MI

show in Midland over the 4th of July weekend for four shows total.

Kylie:  2 A-BOB and 2 A-BOS.  Tripper:  an incredible 3 Best of Breed wins!

The shows really wore me out and the drive home was a bear but I made some

great friends and just love how the club members all make you feel at home.

6.26.09

Speaking of the ASCA Conformation Merit Point program, ASCA just announced

the 2008/2009 year end standings on their website today.  Kylie finished #6 overall.

I couldn't be prouder considering the fact we didn't even show enough to make

the top 30 last year and it was a bit more physically challenging this year to show

her during my 4 1/2 months of chemotherapy.  Yay Kylie Girl!

6.14.09

The ASCA Merit Points year started over on 6.1.09.  What a great way to start!

Headed out to the Outback ASC shows in Hager City, WI where Kylie took A-BOB

at all three shows!  Alas, no pictures.

5.25.09

Another great show weekend!   Traveled to the ASC of Michigan show where

Kylie took 3 A-BOBs, 1 A-BOS and Tripper took 1 BOB!  Now to find out where

Kylie ends up in the ASCA Altered Merit standings for the year ...

More pictures under each kids' respective "Results" pages.

5.18.09

WOW -- WOW -- WOW!!

What a weekend for my kids!!  At the Rock River Valley ASC show this past weekend,

Kylie took Altered Best of Breed at ALL FOUR SHOWS!!  Tripper took Best of Breed

at the Sunday show, and Kylie got her first agility title!  She's now

ASCA A-Ch. Bainbridges Bound to Please, ASCA/AKC CD, RN, JS-N, CGC, TDI!!

Look for more pictures under each kids' respective results pages.

3.30.09

I'm working my way through pre-surgery chemo ... doing okay.  I had a

MAJOR day brightener today ... my roommate found this at Target today:

This is from a photo shoot in October, 2008.  I had just about given up hope!

There's more pictures posted on her Ads page.  Thanks Karen for finding it!

2.20.09

Kinda quiet on the doggie front.  I helped with the UMASC January show and

Kylie and Tripper started some private agility lessons.

I'm going to try to get to some more shows this spring to keep Kylie in the ASCA

Altered Top 30, but I have a little obstacle in my way - I just started chemotherapy

today for breast cancer.  If you want to follow my journey, go to http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/kathyduck

I'm going to do everything I can to not let this cramp my lifestyle and just power through...and I appreciate all the warm thoughts and prayers from friends and

strangers alike.  They're my life preserver in this sea of unknown territory.

12.12.08

Tripper got his hips and elbows x-rayed today for his OFA certification.  I have to

wait for the official certification, but the vet said Tripper's elbows looked

normal and his hips looked good!

12.10.08

Kylie was selected for another photo shoot!  Purina needed a dog to look like

it was pushing a shopping cart full of dog food.  She did great, but I don't think

I'll ever see the final product - it's for a print ad in Mexico ... bummer!

11.15.08

I've added a new page to my site - "Puppies"!  Tripper has been selected to sire

his first litter out of AKC/ASCA Ch. Meadowlawn's Bound To Fly, NA, NAJ, RS-N,

JS-O, DNA-VP -  "Melanie" pending OFA and CERF results!  Click HERE to learn

more about Melanie.

11.1.08

I learned today the Guthrie chose another dog over Kylie -- I quite disappointed but

I guess we should be honored we got this huge opportunity.  Here's screen shots

from the TV news stories on KARE 11 and KMSP 9 from earlier this week.  She was

on-camera for a significant amount of time in each segment!

10.27.08

Kylie auditioned at the Guthrie Theater today for the role of Crab the dog in

Shakespeare's "Two Gentlemen from Verona".  She seemed to do well with the

actor, but we won't know the results for a few weeks.  We appeared on the local TV

news tonight and a couple photographers from the local papers shot some pictures!

This would be the opportunity of a lifetime --- for both of us!

10.17 to 10.18.08

Kylie went BOS three times and Tripper went BOB twice at the Rock River Valley

ASC show this weekend!  See their individual results pages for photos and more information.

10.10.08

Kylie and Tripper duked it out with about 30 other dogs at a recent photo shoot for

an upcoming job to appear on a Target dog bed packaging - and Kylie won!

10.08.08

Kylie's appearing in an online pet catalog for Target.  The photographer took

some great shots of her in a play bow, in a bunch of settings ... too bad

they ended up cropping it... here's the online catalog:  Target.com

10.4.08

I was determined finish Tripper in AKC handling him myself.  It was a bit difficult

getting around the ring this time due to an achilles tendon injury, but we did it!  We

finished Tripper's AKC championship today taking Winner's Dog, Best of Winners and

Best of Breed over two specials!  Go to the Tripper Results page for more information.

8.22.08

Karen MacDonald showed Tripper to Winners Dog and Best of Winners today ...

Tripper is just one point away from finishing his AKC Championship now - woo hoo!

Go to the Tripper Results page for more information.

8.10.08

Kylie appeared in the Target Sunday ad today.  Even after the commercial,

it's still just amazing to see her when I turn the page!

Go to her Ad Page to see the full page version.

8.07.08

Woo hoo!!!  It's here!  The Tuesday Morning commercial is airing

nationally!  See it on Kylie's pages:  Click Here

7.30.08

The offers keep coming in ... Kylie's going for another Target photo shoot

tomorrow.  They want her for a pet catalog they'll be mailing soon.  She's

supposed to be crawling towards some dog treats.  Thank goodness I've already

taught her to 'stay' in some positions that are close to that!

7.18.08

Just when I thought it couldn't get cooler than Tripper being in a bona

fide TV commercial, I get a call for Kylie! The commercial is running for the

store Tuesday Morning.  Kylie was filmed in a folding dog crate (that was way

too small for her...), doing the classic Aussie head tilt, and her signature

 "belly up" move.

One of the commercials was filmed in a studio, and the second was filmed

outside, with the crate on the tailgate of a SUV, so she had to jump into the crate.

The ads are going to be aired in the beginning of August.  They'll air nationally on

cable channels like HGTV, A&E, Bravo, TLC, and Discovery.

I hope to be able to post a recording of the commercial on this site soon!

7.18.08

Kylie had another photo shoot today! Target was looking for a model

for an upcoming weekend ad.  She had some competition, so we'll have to see

if she gets the job.  If so, look for her laying in front of bags of dog food in their

Sunday ad in mid-August!

7.15.08

Kylie's TSC ad showed up in a magazine this month!

Check it out on Kylie's Fun Page...

4.01.08

This is no April Fool's joke - it's here!  Tripper's first commercial!

This is a poor quality video recording of a TV screen ...

I'm hoping for the actual tape soon!

Pass your mouse over the box below to start the video.

3.16.08

Tripper's a bona fide TV star!  We filmed the commercial today at a suburban veterinary clinic. There was an actress from L.A. playing a vet technician, and a 20-ish guy playing Tripper's owner.  There was also a cameraman, a director, a production assistant, and I brought my own indispensable animal wrangler Karen MacDonald!

The commercial took a full three hours to film.  I'm guessing Tripper was involved in all but 30 minutes of it and he was rewarded with a half dozen sticks of string cheese and a small baggie of leftover roast beef for his effort.  He was one wiped-out puppy when we were done and the director seemed pleased with the results.

The commercial will hit the air in two weeks.  The assistant told me it would be running for the next year - woo hoo!  She named off the networks it would be playing on and I can't remember them all ... but here's some of them:  CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX, CNN, WGN, TBS, Animal Planet.   She said it would be airing in all the time slots, but more often during daytime TV.  I'll post the video as soon as I get my hands on it.  Next stop - Hollywood!

3.13.08

Hold on to your hats ... Tripper is going to be in a TV commercial!!

Globe College is filming a TV spot for their Vet Tech school.  They needed a dog

to be lead out of a veterinary hospital exam room where the vet takes off the

dog's leash so the dog can run to his owner. They asked if Tripper could appear

excited to see his 'owner' and jump up and lick, etc.  Ummm ... YES ... you bet

your ass he can!  It's ironic that his two most naughty behaviors I haven't been

able to extinguish are going to make him famous!  The filming is Sunday,

March 16.  More details soon!

11.10.07

I was shopping at Target today and almost fainted when I saw this on the shelf

in the pet supply aisle:

It's Kylie on a Woolrich dog bed!  I just had to share the great news with a total

stranger a few feet away.I exclaimed, "this is my dog!"  She said, "how nice ... you

have a dog that looks like that?"  I replied, "No, it's really my dog!"

She politely nodded and walked away quickly ... I guess I was a bit too excited!

You can see a larger image under Kylie's "Fun Pages".

10.13.07

Woo hoo!  Tripper finished his ASCA championship today!  I'm so proud of my

little guy!  Check out his Results page for details.

10.10.07

Finally - I got a copy of one of the ads from Kylie's commercial photo shoots -

how exciting!   It's the magazine ad for Tractor Supply Company.  You can see

a larger image under Kylie's "Fun Pages".

8.26.07

I'm such a terrible doggie mom - I've not been updating my website with my

kids' wins for over a month.  I also didn't report on Kylie's last photo shoot.

We drove out to White Robin Farm in Wisconsin for a shoot involving a dusty

green pickup.  Kylie will be appearing in a print ad for Tractor Supply Company.

She's sitting in the passenger seat of the truck and hanging out the window.

The photography staff actually misted down the pickup and drove it up and

down nearby dirt roads to get just the right amount of dirt to make it look rustic (?!?)

After the shoot, Kylie and tag-along Tripper got to commune with other farm

residents including horses, sheep, chickens and ducks.  Thanks, Barbara for a

great day on your farm!

Kylie and Tripper also attended their share of dog shows in the past month

and posted some nice wins - be sure to check out their respective "Results" pages.

Alas ... ASCA Nationals is officially off the radar this year.  However, if Kylie

and I can intensify our obedience and agility training, she can compete and

Tripper can go up against the big kids in the ring at the USASA Nationals in

April, 2008 in Greeley, CO.

7.16.07

Target comes through for Kylie again.  They wanted her for a special catalog

of pet products.  She was actually pegged to do two different shots, but they told me

they wanted her for the cover, 'digging' for some doggie treasure. And that's not

all ... Tractor Supply Company asked for her for a print ad.  That one will be

shot on a farm on July 20.

5.21.07

Woo hoo!  Now it's Kylie's time in the spotlight.  I got a call from the agent that

Target wants to use her picture for a Woolrich dog bed package.  I delivered

her to a photography studio on May 23 and handed her off to the agent.  Tripper

loved her so I had no fears leaving her.  I got a glimpse of the set that looked like

a log cabin with a big comfy dog bed in the middle.  When I returned later to pick

up Kylie, I saw some of the photos and they're beautiful.  The agent said she was a dream to work with. I can't wait to see the finished product in stores this fall.

5.19.07

Kylie is taking a much-needed break from the ASCA altered show ring.

Kylie has achieved the #2 ASCA altered conformation merit rank this year with

an incredible 29 Best of Breed and 17 Best Of Opposite Sex wins in only three

years -- a pretty lofty achievement for a dog and handler that were never

going to step in the show ring.

5.16.07

Tripper was chosen to appear in a Purina print ad.  We spent the afternoon in a

photographer's studio in the company of ad agency folks, a Purina spokesperson, the talent agent and various assistants.  Another blue merle mixed breed dog is

photographed as well.  I learnedthe reason why ... it's tail will be magically edited

onto Tripper's picture.  I hope to post pictures soon.

5.01.07

Tripper starts his first agility foundations class with Agile Canines, Kylie will focus on

agility this summer and we hope to start competing in the fall.

4.23.07

Kylie climbs to 248 Altered Conformation Merit points in ASCA, but it's not good

enough to hold onto the #1 spot - bummer.  She falls to #2, just 15 points back.

Feb - Apr 2007

Tripper burns up the ASCA show ring by taking three major wins.

In February, he takes Winners Dog and Best of Winners under judge Heather Herron

at an On The Border ASC show for his first major. The next day he even beats his

dad Keegan in the Best of Breed ring for a Best of Opposite win and a five point

major under judge Nikki Marenbach-Hengy.  He completes his ASCA major trifecta

under judge Virginia Altman at the April Upper Midwest show.  Check out his

results page for more information and photos.

2.18.07

Kylie is now at 224 points and continues to hold the #1 spot in ASCA's

Altered Conformation Merit standings.

1.15.07

ASCA posts the new Altered Conformation Merit standings and Kylie is

 STILL #1 with 188 points.

11.15.06

Wow! Kylie is the #1 Altered Conformation Merit dog in ASCA's standings.

September 2006

Kylie and Tripper had a FANTASTIC first ASCA Nationals check their "Results"

pages for pictures.
